The front panel of my alarm keypad has no power. This means that it doesn’t flash when the alarm is triggered and I can’t arm or disarm my system from the keypad. Why does this problem gets caused? Is this really worth worrying about? How can I fix this problem?
Can the problem really be solved by simple steps? The answer is yes. You just need to follow the steps mentioned below and the problem will be solved easily.
What are the causes of power failure in my alarm keypad?
If your keypad isn’t working, don’t worry because there are a few things you can check before calling us out to fix it. You should see a flashing red light and hear three short beeps if there is a power failure in your system.
If these lights aren’t visible, there could be an issue with one of your control wires or no power reaching your control panel. Make sure your batteries are correctly inserted and that they have not expired.
Also, make sure your battery backup has been installed correctly and If you still do not get the problem solved then follow the steps mentioned below.
Check your fuses or circuit breakers
The most common cause of an alarm keypad that doesn’t work is a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. When you use your remote to arm or disarm your security system as it sends a signal to your alarm system; if there’s no power getting to your alarm panel, it won’t work.
Check your home’s main electrical panel and make sure all of your breakers are turned on and functioning properly. If one has been flipped off accidentally, flip it back on—that should solve the problem right away.
How can I fix it?
If your alarm keypad has no power, it is most likely caused by a blown fuse. This can be easily fixed by replacing a few parts on your circuit board.
The first step is to take off your keypad cover, which should have screws holding it in place. Underneath, you’ll see a circuit board with some of its components labeled; you’ll need to look for something that looks like a fuse holder with blown fuses next to it.
Once you find it, replace all of these fuses with new ones (you can find them at any hardware store) therefore once they are replaced, plug your system back in and test out your keypad.
It should work properly now! If it still doesn’t work, get it checked by an expert in the field. He might guide you better.
