Gotrax scooter not charging? This may be caused by several factors, but luckily there are solutions to all of them. From loose power cables to defective charging ports, there’s always a solution to make your Gotrax scooter start charging again!
If you find yourself in this situation, follow these steps and your Gotrax will charge up just like new! First things first, check the following points: the plug in your mains power socket; the power cable that connects to the scooter; and the charging port on the scooter itself.
In my case, when I got a new Gotrax scooter, it did work fine in the beginning. But, as soon as it worked for quite some time, it started showing various problems. I tried these fixes and the problem got solved. These are as follows.
Check Battery
It’s possible that you got a defective battery. If your Gotrax is not charging through its USB charging cable, it may be because of one of two reasons:
1) The battery was left plugged in too long and turned off due to overheating, or
2) You are using an outlet with a higher voltage than what is recommended for fast charging. This often happens if you plug in your Gotrax into an outlet on a power strip rather than directly into a wall socket. If you suspect either issue, try removing and reinserting batteries or replacing them altogether with new ones before attempting to charge your scooter again.
Check Main Power Board
If your Gotrax scooter won’t turn on and your battery is fully charged, check that your power board isn’t damaged. Make sure all connections are secure and there aren’t any exposed wires or noticeable burns.
If you find any damage, replace it immediately. Don’t try to work around damaged parts—they can cause further damage to your scooter and possibly put you in danger.
Also, make sure to run through a full charge and discharge cycle of your battery before riding again, just to ensure everything is in proper working order.
You may need a replacement battery if your current one is faulty or has sustained physical damage. Contact an authorized service center for more information about replacements.
Check Fuse Box
You may want to check your fuse box to see if any fuses are blown. If you can’t find any blown fuses, it’s possible that your charger is malfunctioning or your scooter is defective. To determine whether either of these is true, unplug all of your devices from power and try charging them again.
If all of them work normally, then you need a new charger. If only one device doesn’t charge when plugged into a wall outlet, it could be an issue with that specific device or with its battery. In either case, bring it back to wherever you bought it for further assistance and warranty coverage.
Check Wiring Harness
There’s a good chance that you are charging your scooter but not getting a charge because there is something wrong with your wiring harness. First, plug in your charger and make sure that it works before continuing.
Next, check to see if there is any damage to either end of your scooter’s charging cable. If there is, you’ll need to buy another one and replace it. Finally, take off any dust caps and make sure that both ends of your wire are clean before reassembling everything back together.
This may solve your issue altogether or at least give you some more information on where things might be going wrong so you can do further troubleshooting on other parts of your machine or batteries.

Conclusion
The problem with your Gotrax scooter may be a loose connection or a dirty charging port. Use a can of compressed air to clean out any dirt and debris that may be stuck in there.
Next, take an alcohol wipe and use it to remove all traces of lint or dust from inside the charging port on your scooter. Then plug your charger cable into both ends and leave it overnight.
