Getting a larger display and enjoying more room for space is liked by everyone. Everyone wants to see the picture from a larger perspective. It increases the attention of the viewer towards the display. Connecting 2 monitors to a laptop or a PC is not a very difficult task due to the variety of options it provides like VGA, HDMI, or DVI.
Older laptops do not generally provide space for connecting more displays to them. They only allow as much as one display to be connected with it. But coming do the new computers, you can easily connect 3 devices to it.
Check the OS
The ability of a laptop to connect various devices to it depends upon the Operating System it uses. The operating system is a pathway on which the computer runs. It is programmed according to the operating system.
Nowadays, the most widely used Operating System is Windows operating system and is the most efficient among all. It has almost no competitor. Probably, the person reading this will also be having the same Operating System
Monitors get connected to the Operating system that is specifically programmed for this purpose and coming to windows, all the common windows used in this specific time, i.e. Windows Xp/7/8/10, all of them support this feature.
Check the ports
See if the Laptop that you are using is supporting the function of multiple displays connection. All of the Laptops coming to market nowadays can easily connect a minimum of 2 displays to it.
You may face problems with the old laptops which could only connect one display with it. You will surely face no problem if you are having a brand new laptop. Look for the ports, i.e. HDMI and VGA ports, and see if they are mentioned below.

After connecting the cables into the HDMI and VGA ports, you can proceed further.
What if you don’t have enough ports?
Consider that you don’t have enough ports to connect multiple displays to the Laptop. You have an old laptop and have the option of only connecting a single display.
What would you do in that case? You would probably panic but no need to.
You can try a docking station for this purpose. It can help you with this. Another thing that can be tried in this case is using a Switch Splitter, but you should have 2 HDMI cables and you can not connect via VGA.
Check the graphics card
Usually, most of the graphics card that comes into the market support the function of multiple monitor system. The probability of your graphics card not supporting this function is once in a blue moon.
You can check whether your graphics card is supporting the multi-monitor function by 2 methods.
You can go to the website of the graphics card you are using and check the requirements for the monitor to connect.
Another option can be tried to go to the settings of the graphics card and see if it supports this function or not.
Adjust the displays
While connecting the displays to your monitor, you must keep in mind that by default, after connecting the screens to the laptop, it is designed such that the main display, i.e. the laptop you want to connect remains on the left side. The displays you want to connect come on the right side of the laptop.
So, you should place the displays you want to connect with the laptop in the right position beforehand to save some time. If you do not do that, the cursor movement can be confusing for your mind and you would waste the time by unplugging the displays and changing the direction again.
Program the monitors
You do not simply connect the monitors to the laptop and it starts working, but you have to take some measures and set some settings in your laptop before getting the final display.
On a PC, you can click right-click on the desktop screen and select Display Settings. After selecting this option. You can see Multiple Display Settings. Here you need to let the computer know what to do with the displays.
You can see two options, Mirroring and Extend display. Both are different things because mirroring means to use the same displays on either display and extended display means using the screens as an entire display.
On Mac, Click Menu and then click System Preferences. After selecting this option, click Display settings. Then choose Mirror to mirror the screen to other displays and remove the checkmark from the Mirror box in order to extend the screen to other displays.
Difference between extended monitor display and mirror screen function
Both are entirely different options and mean exactly different from the other. You need to select the option wisely because only you know for what purpose you have connected the displays with the laptop.
Coming to the Extended Monitor Display, means extending the screen to all the devices. It means that the same screen will be divided into three screens and you can enjoy the same window in three of the displays.
On the other hand, when we discuss the option of Screen Mirroring, it means that the same screen will be seen in the other displays. All the other screens will show the same screen that you will see on the first screen.
