If water does come out, then move on to troubleshooting other parts of your dishwasher. If no water comes out at all, however, then inspect your float switch by checking for worn spots or frayed wires.
The float switch is what turns off your dishwasher when it reaches capacity with water and soap suds.
It should be kept clean and sanitary; you may need to replace it if it’s not operating properly.
Wipeout any food particles
The first thing you’ll want to do is remove any large food particles. This can be done easily with a small cup or glass and some liquid soap, which will allow you to wipe down anything stubborn.
You can also use small plastic utensils from your silverware drawer, but make sure you rinse them in hot water first so they don’t leave debris behind.
Next, turn off your dishwasher and unplug it for 30 minutes so there isn’t any pressure inside when we begin working on it.
Finally, disconnect all of your hoses using your wrench set (or a pair of pliers) and drain out all excess water from within your unit; because there isn’t pressure inside, you shouldn’t have any leaking issues.
Disconnect the drain line
Using a pipe wrench, disconnect your dishwasher from its drain line. Then place a bucket underneath and run it through a full cycle.
In case the water doesn’t come out, there may be an issue with your plumbing.
If water does come out, empty out the bucket and look at how much came out; if it’s not much, you may have another problem inside your dishwasher.
Check for buildup in your pump filter: Remove your dishwasher’s lower panel and check to see if there is any buildup behind or around your dishwasher’s pump filter screen.
Check your dishwasher’s hoses and pump
The easiest way to ensure your dishwasher drains is to check its hoses. Is there a kink in them? Are they properly connected at both ends?
If you’re not sure, use your owner’s manual to locate these components and double-check that they are attached correctly.
For example, if your machine has an interior drain hose, is it connected to an exterior drain hose at each end?
Many dishwashers also have a pump installed near where water enters and exits. Check that yours is securely attached and fits snugly into its mount.
Remove the hoses from their clips
These hoses run from your sink to your dishwasher. If you don’t have a visible hose, it’s possible that it connects in an area behind or under your sink.
If you have trouble locating them, try tracing their route back to where they connect on either side of your kitchen. Remove and replace them if they’re worn or damaged.
Don’t forget to reattach any clips that may have come loose when you removed them!
Reconnect everything back together
When you’re not sure where a hose or wire went, but it was disconnected for some reason, reconnecting it to its place is a good place to start.
Before you do anything else, disconnect any hoses or wires from your dishwasher that have been disconnected.
Once all have been reattached and set in their original places, plug your dishwasher back in and turn it on to check whether water drains from it during its entire cycle. If none does so at any point, then follow some of these additional steps.
