In order to manually turn on an AC unit, you will need to locate the power switch on the outside of the air conditioning unit and turn it on by flipping it upwards.

Locate The Power Box

Check for any caution labels and follow them closely before proceeding with this step. After locating the power cord, proceed to the next step.
Press The Power Button
The first thing you need to do is find the power button. This is usually located on the front of the unit near the bottom. Once you find it, press it firmly for two to three seconds. You should see a light come on or hear the unit start-up.
If nothing happens, make sure the unit is plugged in and try again. Make sure the plug is inserted fully into an outlet that works. Sometimes it helps to twist the plug around so that it’s facing more toward one side than another.
Check if there are any nearby circuit breakers that might be tripped (you can flip them back). And finally, check if there’s anything blocking access to the socket where your extension cord is plugged in.
Lower The Temperature
You should see a knob or lever on the front of your unit. This is how you’ll lower the temperature on your AC unit. Slowly turn the knob to the left until you reach your desired temperature.
You may have to experiment a bit to find the perfect setting for your home, but once you do, you’ll be able to keep your cool all summer long!
Finalizing
After you have set everything up and made sure that all the connections are secure, it is time to wait. The unit will take some time to start up, so be patient. You may hear some strange noises as the system gets going, but this is normal.
Once the compressor kicks on, you should feel cool air coming out of the vents. If you see that everything is working ok, congrats! You have successfully turned on your AC unit manually.
Raise The Temperature Again
If your home is still too warm for comfort, it’s time to raise the temperature on your AC unit again. This time, you’ll need to go into the thermostat and manually set it to the desired temperature.
Once you’ve done that, turn on the power switch (if it’s not already on) and wait for the cool air to start flowing. If everything is working properly, you should feel a difference within a few minutes.
