ToggleCheck speaker wire connections
If your center speaker doesn’t work when you have a new receiver, double-check that all wires are connected. The receiver needs to receive a signal from each speaker in order to produce sound.
If there’s no power or if a wire isn’t properly connected, you may not hear anything. Check your connection at both ends—speaker and receiver—and make sure they match up (for example,
wire color to wire color).
Then turn on your speakers again and check for audio through each one individually.
Turn off the system and disconnect power source
Switch off your home audio system and disconnect the power source. Then, unplug power cables and make sure there is no voltage in the sound system. Reconnect all connections: Connect all connections properly with caution.
Check wire connections at receiver, speaker, and cable box by switching on your home audio system to check that everything is working properly.
Check speaker wires: Ensure whether it is not a problem with any of your speakers or amplifier as they are producing no sound from center channel as well.
Remove cover, check speaker wire connectors
One of my friends had a pair of Denon speakers he’d used for about 10 years. The power cord had deteriorated so much that she’d rigged up an extension cord between it and her TV, hoping to fix them later.
After fixing his cord, I replaced her receiver only to discover that there was no sound from the center speaker. Truth is, sometimes you can look at what’s missing and get a pretty good idea of where something should be.
In any case, after swapping out both front channels with new speakers I found that neither one was working when connected to her receiver.
Adjust front channel fader level
The most common problem with no sound from your center speaker is that you have your front left/right channels set too high, which prevents your receiver from sending enough signal to power a center channel.
You can usually fix it by lowering both volume controls on your AV receiver. However, if you’re not familiar with sound equipment terminology and functions, having to constantly adjust two different volume controls when you change between channels can get annoying fast.
The fix? Look for a surround sound system that features discrete faders—that is, separate hardware controls—for each of its channels. This allows you to simultaneously raise or lower all of your speakers with one dial, instead of juggling two separate dials on two separate pieces of hardware.
Swap center speaker with the left speaker
If your center speaker is not working, but both of your left and right speakers are functioning properly, you might be able to fix it by swapping its wires with those of one of your left speaker.
If a speaker doesn’t work at all, try moving it closer to a different wall. Usually, if a center speaker isn’t producing sound when there’s an issue with the wiring, you’ll have to replace either that wire or your receiver.
It may also just be disconnected from its wiring. If so, take note of which color goes where and reconnect it.
Swap center speaker with right speaker
In order to fix a Denon receiver with no sound from the center speaker, we first need to determine what is causing it. Most people will have 2 or 3 center speakers connected to their home theater systems. You need to follow the above step as same.
The only difference will be that this time you need to Swap your center speaker with the right speaker. Check if it works for you
If everything fails, try a new center speaker
If all else fails, you can always purchase a new center speaker. They are not expensive, and I’ve had numerous customers tell me that by swapping out their old speakers for a new one, their receiver magically started working again.
You may also have to re-do your speaker configuration in your receiver’s setup menu if you change speakers but some receivers can detect the change and make adjustments automatically. Either way, it should help to fix the Denon receiver no sound from the center speaker issue!
