If the battery hasn’t been used in a while
It’s a good idea to periodically run it down and then charge it up again.
This will ensure that your battery doesn’t lose its ability to hold a charge, but more importantly, it ensures that you don’t get stuck somewhere where you can’t charge your scooter.
For example, if you take a trip out of town for Christmas or Thanksgiving and don’t bring your charger with you, at least you know your scooter still has enough juice to make it back home.

Is your scooter charging unit damaged?
Sometimes, even with a brand new charging unit, your scooter may not be charging. The first thing to do is confirm that it’s not something wrong with your battery pack.
If you have recently dropped or damaged your scooter in any way, it may not register as properly working and end up causing your charger to do nothing.
It’s easy enough to test: just take a multimeter and test for charge voltage output on both positive and negative leads.

Are you getting proper amps on your charger?
If you’re using a charger and you’re not getting proper amps, it might be a problem with your battery.
You can test your battery by removing it from your scooter, setting it on a table, and charging it for 30 minutes.
If your charger is working properly, you should see between 3 and 4 amps when charging at 5 volts (if you’re in North America).
If your amp reading falls short of 3 or exceeds 4 amps, you probably have an issue with your battery.
Checking DC Amps: To check DC amps, touch one lead of a multimeter to any part of your scooter’s main circuit board and touch another lead to each pin on its 18650-sized lithium-ion batteries.
What does a fully charged battery feel like?
If your scooter is fully charged, you don’t need to trickle charge it. If your scooter doesn’t have any charge left in it, you should start a trickle charge.
The only times you don’t want to do a trickle charge are when there are problems with your battery. Also when you are not able to check for those problems.
For example, if your battery has just been sitting around for a while and you can’t get enough of a charge into it, go ahead and try to give it a full charge before starting up again. Then try your trickle charges again.
